ExpenseUVA: Expense Management at UVA

In a few months, the University will be rolling out ExpenseUVA, a new expense management system. In this session you will learn what current transactions and processes will move to the new system and the current standard approval routing in ExpenseUVA. You will have an opportunity to be among the first to see a short demonstration of the system, and hear about the plans for the upcoming pilot in April.

Mastering Account Reconciliations

The goal of this course is to assist employees with their expenditure reconciliations and to inform staff of the relevant policies and procedures. We will also provide demos of the Recon@ system. Upon completion of this course employees will be able to complete monthly expenditure reconciliations as required by Procedures 1-4 and 1-4A.

This course is intended for fiscal personnel who prepare, review, and approve expenditure reconciliations but open to all University academic faculty and staff.

Recharge/Service Centers: Everything you Need to Know

What is a recharge/service center? A recharge/service center is a unit within UVA that provides non-profit goods and/or services of a specialized nature to other UVA users on a recurring basis, and charges a fee for those goods/services. Units that are set up as recharge/service centers are designed to recover the costs of their operations, primarily through charges to internal UVA customers. Such revenue-generating units must adhere to University and federal government policies in the establishment of developing cost-based rates to users.

Cost Transfers Workshop

The goal of this course is to provide an overview of the creation of cost transfers and to review frequently asked questions. We will provide guidance on preparing and understanding cost transfers and the process, discussing the most common errors and tips for efficiency and accuracy.

This course is intended for UVA employees who work with cost transfers in the Integrated System but open to all University academic faculty and staff.

How Do I Get Help? Resources for Users of the Integrated System

The goal of this session is to share information on the resources available for users of the Integrated System so that you know where to turn for help. You will learn about the HR-Finance User Group Community and best practices for participating in the community to get the help that you need, when you need it. You will also see a demonstration of the Integrated System's online help.

Upon completion of this session, participants should have an understanding of the help resources available to Integrated System users.

This session is open to all University faculty and staff.

Internal Controls

What are internal controls?  Are you abiding by UVA’s internal control policies? If you are not sure how to answer these questions, this course can help.  The goal of this course is to introduce new employees or employees new to a financial responsibility to the University’s internal control policies.  We will discuss best business practices, recent audit findings, and what to do if you know someone is not adhering to UVA’s internal control policies.
