As Director, Kelly endeavors to present a clear and effective strategy for UVA’s compliance with financial, export, and sanction requirements. She develops an understandable program of policies and procedures to assist faculty, staff, administrators and students in complying with federal and state regulations, as well as sponsor requirements. Kelly leads a team of knowledgeable and professional staff to who support compliance programs; develop and deliver educational and career development opportunities for individuals with financial responsibilities; and effectively communicate about Finance services and initiatives.

Brandi has been a communicator in healthcare and higher education for nearly 15 years in a variety of roles, including internal communications, marketing and public relations, alumni affairs, and development. As a member of the Finance Outreach and Compliance team, Brandi works across UVAFinance to provide staff and stakeholders with organizational messages that keep them informed and engaged.

Patty has over 25 years of experience in employee development. She began her career with UVA as an instructional designer and training specialist with the Integrated System Project, and then spent 12 years with University Human Resources, mostly as manager for systems and technical training, prior to accepting her current position.  In addition to leading the Finance training team, Patty uses her skills as a certified coach to support the Manager Development Program.

Before joining the Finance Outreach and Compliance team in August 2015, Jack spent the last 14 years teaching math and serving as the Distance Education teacher for local schools.  Prior to entering higher education Jack held positions as a lab manager and new product development specialist in industry.  Jack holds a BS in Physics from Nebraska Wesleyan University, and an MBA from North Park University.  He also is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified from the University of Georgia.

Danielle taught first grade in central Pennsylvania before moving to Charlottesville to pursue a graduate degree at UVa's Curry School of Education.  After graduating with an Education Specialist degree, she spent a year as a Fiscal Administrator and Education Outreach Administrator for the Astronomy Department.

Erika maintains Integrated System and Student Information System training and approves ESHARP requests related to labor distribution, financial aid, departmental aid, student aid funding module, and student finance.  She coordinates the annual Certified Research Administrators Review Course and works with Sponsored Programs and other compliance areas in diverse areas such as effort reporting, cost share, payment card industry, and export controls.

As a Training Developer for the UBI Team, Christopher is responsible for the creation and delivery of training for UBI systems and data analytics. Specializing in digital content creation and delivery, he leads the team in e-Learning development and content maintenance in the Learning Management System.  Christopher and the rest of the UBI team are available for ongoing support at any time through the UBI Community.

In her role, Linda designs and develops training materials, including instructor-led classes, eLearning, Quick Reference Guides, and Job Aids.  Active in the UBI Community, Linda also assists users during Office Hours and teaches a variety of UBI classes. In addition, she helps manage the logistics of training, such as scheduling classes and monitoring ESHARP requests.

Nasima's background in Human Resources at UVA has encompassed everything from keying tax and direct deposit forms and approving UVA staff, faculty, and student salaries, to working with Discoverer for audit purposes. In her role, she primarily handles requests for responsibilities in eSharp so that requests move smoothly to the training team and supports procurement by working with purchasing hierarchies

Lynn's areas of responsibility within the area of financial compliance include functioning as the Agency Risk Management and Internal Controls Standards (ARMICS) coordinator, administrating the Internal Control Questionnaire, and performing analysis of various projects for compliance and oversight.

As a compliance analyst, Christine ensures that all Finance policies and procedures are implemented and well-documented, performs internal reviews and identified compliance problems that call for formal attention.  She also assists in establishing internal controls strategies to avoid non-compliance and works with regulatory bodies and frameworks such as the Agency Risk Management and Internal Controls Standards.

Export Controls

Andrew began his career at UVA in September, 2004, managing the University’s Effort Reporting function.  Not long thereafter, he became a compliance analyst, responsible for developing policies and procedures governing financial compliance and providing training and outreach to the departments first in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and then in Finance Outreach and Compliance.  Andrew currently supports the Export Controls program.

LaVerne has over 25 years of export/import licensing and compliance experience with defense contractors and is a proud US Air Force veteran.  LaVerne's duties will include, but are not limited to, implementing export control best practices across grounds; increasing awareness; providing functional training; and working with subject matter experts to make technical and licensing assessments.
