Learning can be a valuable strategic partner for an organization to meet its goals. That is why we are transforming the training and development function in UVAFinance to address specific business objectives. This requires a cultural shift and involves the active participation of more than just the training and development team. Individuals and managers also play key roles in this transformation. Therefore, we have developed a course specifically for UVAFinance managers, which will provide:
• context for the learning culture we will be establishing together, and
• guidance for what a manager’s responsibilities are in shaping and reinforcing learning within the organization.
After this course, a manager will be able to see training and development as an opportunity to address business objectives, know when training is not the solution to a business need, and not only support their direct reports in professional development, but also engage with them before and after to reinforce learning and ensure transfer of knowledge to their work
